Disturbing phone call.

Last Wednesday evening(7/21) my sister received a disturbing phone call from my cousin Wanex who lives in Haiti. Well, it was a very intense conversation when he told my sister that he was mugged on Monday morning (7/19). He was on his way to school when the incident occurred,  after he got off the bus 2 men on a motorcycle  followed and circled him against the wall, they demanded his wallet, his watch and his cell phone. When the muggers realized that he was being persistent about giving them his wallet, they slapped him and took his belongings. During the confrontation there were people passing by, and they told my cousin to act cool like nothing is going on and if he said something he will get shot. My cousin survived this ordeal by the grace of GOD and while the robbers were shouting at him he kept on praying and finally they let him go. My cousin Wanex found a neighbor who helped him with the cab money to go back home. After everything that Wanex had gone through back in January when the earthquake hit the country, we kept on praying that everything would be okay with him and everyone else.


Haiti is a country where the living situation has gotten worse and worse and for the citizens of that country  it's a disgrace that they can't live freely. What happened to Wanex is happening everyday to the locals, the girls are being rapped while their family are being forced to look the other way. The government is no help to this country, there's no security, the robbers are walking around with guns and seize people's property.. with all the money and aid that went to Haiti over the last 6 months, WHY HAS ANYONE GOTTEN THE HELP THEY NEED? I AM UPSET WITH THE HAITIANS GOVERNMENT, THESE PEOPLE ARE ONLY FEEDING THEIR FAMILY, ANOTHER DISTURBING FACT IS THAT NONE OF THESE STORIES ARE BEING REPORTED ON INTERNATIONAL TV. The country is crying out loud for food day and night, the pain is real in the faces of the Haitians. This troubled country really need a change, the children of that country has no hope, and see no future... It really amazes me to see a country with so much resources turns out to be so dysfunctional and corrupted.  I really hope one day  things will get better for all Haitians.. Let the light shine on HAITI....

Weekend Update

On Saturday I went to a free outdoor concert to help support and celebrate Haiti. As you all know what had  happened to my country and still 7 months later people in HAITI are still without food, clothes, even the basic toilet essentials. Target, American Airlines and other sponsors were there to show their support for Haiti.  The special event called "Konbit pou Ayiti" Harlem Stage Unites for HAITI. Since the concert was outdoor we all had the pleasure of sitting on the grass and enjoyed the great sound of some of Haiti most prominent musicians and group. Like Emeline Michel, Tabou Combo, Eddy Francois, Mika Benjamen to name a few. It was such a great show and usually you rarely see all these artists on the same stage... I had a blast and it's good to see all the Haitians reunited to show their love, generosity and support  for HAITI...

 On Sunday morning Mike and I went to see the movie "Despicable me" With Steve Carell and we had a great time. We laughed from the beginning to the end of the movie. It's a kid movie so the theater was packed with kids and they all were having a great time. You should definitely go see it...

the Queen of Haiti

Last night there was a free concert at Lincoln Center in NYC and Haitian's iconic figure was to there to perform. I had such a wonderful time and when i listened to the old songs that i have not heard in such a long time it brought back memories from when i was little girl living in Haiti... I was reminiscing about all the things i used to when these songs came out...I hardly ever go to any Haitians festivities however, for that one i had to be there.  having said that, i had the best time ever. Emeline was introduced to some during the telethon that was done for Haiti back in January.  Emeline is such a role model to us all and i am glad to have met her. Her soulful voice and her traditional sexy dance really were the highlight of the performance... Here are some shots that i took last night from my phone... a little side note i took on a cell phone so the adjustment is not quiet there.

Hope for Haiti Now!!!!!!!!

I am sure you all know about the big global event that's scheduled to air commercial free on  Friday 1/22 at 8pm through out all the major networks including the local networks. This telethon is  to benefit the Haitians community in Haiti in the relief effort of the Earthquake and it's a really big event since all the big stars are going to land a hand. For 99 cents, viewers can also download musical performances from the show on iTunes. Profits will be donated to Haiti relief.

Hope for Haiti is very is very close to my heart since i know that I have family who spent days and night without food, drinking water on the streets. it's a very though situation to live in especially when you loose hope on finding someone to help you, to lead you in the right path. With helps coming from all over the world the Haitians now have a better sense of not giving up and being patient that a change will happen for better. Watching the news I see that the Haitians find GOD and their faith to stay positive and strong.  I was glad to see all the children holding on tight to their bible during harsh time like this.

Great News!!!!!!!

I am so happy tonight to say that my cousins are alive in Haiti.... I got a phone call from my cousin Wanex around 4 pm and told me that he is alive...when i heard his voice we all in the house started screaming and calling God. Thank you GOD. No seriously this is the best that happened. Although his foot is hurt but the great thing is he is alive. From what I understood my cousin Wanex was not home when the earthquake passed. He stayed and slept on the streets for 3 days with little food. It ached my heart when he told me he came close to die. Now everything he has in the house is gone.  He is thankful to be alive however, his girlfriend did not make it, she was in the house and did not get a chance to run out. I can't wait to send him some cash... I am so happy!

Also my other cousin by the of Keline called us today too... She is okay, although her house fell. As of now she is sleeping on the streets like every other Haitians. I am so happy to hear about my family and because now my mom can be herself again. She was in daze since the earthquake...Thank you GOD and everyone who have shown their support.
I am praying for everyone in Haiti and hoping things will get better and more lives will be saved.

This is the pictures of my Cousin his name is Wanex Sonceau, he lives in Port-au-Prince and he is 25 years old. I already added his pictures on CNN and I am hoping someone will find him... I heard from other people that he is okay but my family have been able to reach him.
 I have another cousin name Keline Dugrarand she lives in Delmas 33, we have not heard from her and i am hoping someone will find her...

I have a best friend and her name is Sherley Joseph she lives in Port-au-Prince i have not been able to reach her...
I am very optimistic that they will be okay...

My Haiti is gone........

I am saddened to hear that the earthquake only lasted 35 seconds and caused so much damaged to Haiti. This earthquake has changed the lives of all Haitians forever. The dark days have just begun. The fear and horror i saw on these kids faces left my mind numb.  I don't really know how we are going to pull through but i have faith in GOD and things will be better.
Since the Earthquake i have finally contacted some of my family in Haiti on Thursday night. From what I heard my family members and friends who live in the northside of Haiti ( Cap-Haitien) are okay however, they have not been able to communicate with the rest of the people living in Port-au-Prince. I got word that i have cousins and close friends who have died.
It's very difficult to watch the news and i have anxiety every time the house phone or my cell phone ring. The chaos that's going in Haiti right is unexplainable, I never imagined such horror to happen to my country. The Haiti that i knew and grew up in is gone.
I have donated money to the red cross and YELE organization. I also have clothes, food and other things to send to the people. George Clooney plans to host a telethon to help Haiti and Angelina Jolie and Bratt Pitt have donated $1 million to doctors without borders. for more information on George Clooney and the telethon please click HERE.. Haiti Worse Nightmare- Earthquake

Words can explain what I am feeling right now... I still can't reach my family in Haiti, my uncle can't reach his kids either.. I am here hoping for some good news... I could not sleep at all last night, things are really bad over there now... Some of the pictures that i saw on CNN last night just broke my heart, to see all these students buried under the wreckage, debris, bricks,  and dust and some are not even moving is just devastating. All night I have asked GOD to help the Haitians. I emailed my cousin last night and this morning i have not gotten a response yet... My mom is worried sick because she can't get through her family.From what I hear thousands are fear dead and several thousands missing...This is the worst earthquake in more than 200 years...

This is what's left of my country... nothing but pieces of bricks and metal sticks after Haiti has split in half..

A monster EarthQuake just hit HAITI....

OMG!!!!!!I am panicking right now because i can't get in contact with my family in Haiti...I am here watching CNN and hoping for some good news....I have bought a phone card but the communication is still hard to get through.... Part of the hospital has collapsed and many more houses are dismantled. I am hoping that My cousins are okay but i have not been able to reach them...Please pray for all the people there, the children and the people at the hospital...
